A Little Ditty

Recently, I’ve noticed that songs, little ditties, tunes and the like have popped up in this blog from time to time. Not that I’m very musically inclined – I think my son got that gene. Even so, the things I remember are usually very simple songs and most likely something I learned in kindergarten. Here’s one that I’ve been humming as I work:

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose,
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

It’s that third line that I’ve been stuck on: “And eyes and ears and mouth and nose”

While working on some new things for my upcoming show, I realized it had been a while since I had created an open mouth bear. So, of course, new idea = drop everything in progress and begin anew. Some might consider this method a liability; others might say it’s a lack of focus. I tend to think of it as a fundamental approach to the creative aesthetic. “What does that mean?” you may ask. Truthfully, I have no idea, it just sounded like I might have rhyme or reason to my technique. No reason, but I do have a rhyme, remember? “And eyes and ears and mouth and nose”

Here is a portion of today’s work in progress -
