This is a real machine – not a toy.

I believed it, too. It said so on the box and it said so in the instructions. I don’t think I ever made anything with it, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. I think the dream of what was possible rather than what I was actually capable of (and what the machine was capable of) was what kept me fascinated. Seeing my mother sewing at her machine made me want to imitate her in my own childlike way. That makes this real little sewing machine that I played with as a child a special treasure. Just recently when I was cleaning, sorting and organizing, I found the box and instructions that go with it.

I used to keep it downstairs, but I’ve decided to move it up to my studio to keep company with some of the other things I’ve moved around in the redo. I’m hoping we can tie up all the loose ends this weekend and maybe sometime next week I will have some photos to post here.

  2. Oh my goodness does that machine bring back memories. I had one of those too, but when I left home someone donated or gave it away. I was heartbroken.

  3. Hi Dolores, It still works about as good as it ever did but it never seemed to sew well for me. Thanks for the comment on the blog header too.

  6. Hi Lisa,

I do plan to show the photos. I'm happy with the way it's shaping up but in so many ways it's a lot the same with mostly the details making up the difference.
