When Good Boxes Go Bad

Yes, sadly, it is true. Sometimes good boxes go bad. It’s not entirely the box’s fault of course. Sometimes it has something to do with someone not knowing the best method for achieving a desired outcome.

Therefore, the first attempt becomes lesson one.

The second attempt becomes lesson two.

Then, if you are lucky, someone (like your daughter, maybe) tells you about a medium that is new to you.

At this point after several failed attempts, you really have nothing to lose. And it really is sad to see a good box go bad.

This is the medium I am trying.

It is a dry powdery substance.

Until you add water and mix.

Then it looks like gray oatmeal.

But it dries nearly white and looks like it would be easy to paint.

I am still working on it, but it seems promising so far.

In the meantime, I hope to enjoy a beautiful Fourth of July.  I hope you have a nice one too!

  3. I love that you show us your processes, Ginger. I hope the box turns out the way you want it to, and that you can crow about this new clay medium.

    Happy Independence Day to you!
