but Sebastian insisted that I comply. “It is Easter after all” he said.
As a dutiful bear maker, I did exactly as he commanded.
It all started when I suggested that there must be some way to tell all of you folks how much we enjoy you and appreciate you – even though sometimes we get ‘involved’ in other things and sort of – well – sort of – overlook the fact of how wonderful you are.
So we are taking this opportunity to thank you – no let’s make that THANK YOU! – for your wonderfulness. Oh, and for all the times you make us laugh out loud with your smart and witty comments!
I was the photographer for this wild craziness. The rest of this business is his idea. Let’s begin.
First we have the Easter bunny. Sebastian insisted that this was a good disguise – that you would never know it was him.
The Easter bunny has decided that all of you wonderful readers deserve a basket full of colorful Easter eggs.
Hey, Sebastian, what’s in those eggs?
Ah – surprises, eh? How do we open them?
He says to click on each egg below to see the surprise inside. Each one is different and they are ALL for you from all of us here at bearbits!
This set of two teds is what has been keeping me occupied of late. They are my contribution to the auction at the Doll & Teddy Bear Artist & Collector Convention in Philadelphia in just about three short weeks.
It is called “Bee-loved”.
The little lady bee keeper is 12.5” tall.
Her small bee friend is 5.25” tall.
If you are in the Philadelphia area and are interested in attending the Philadelphia show May 14, I have a few free passes available. Let me know if you would like me to put your name in the hat. I will draw the names in one week. I think it’s going to be a great show!
I thought I’d share a few photos of some of the wonderful details at Walt Disney World. I’m still fascinated by all there is to see. Here’s a few that you might miss.
You might walk by Cinderella’s fountain in the Magic Kingdom and only pay attention to the figure but . . .
if you look at it from a lower angle – say like that of a child – you can see that there is a crown that rests perfectly on her head.
Walk through the castle and you can see a beautiful mosaic of the story of Cinderella but . . .
if you look closely you will see lots of details made up of thousands and thousands of tiny tile squares – like these mice. So cute!
In Hollywood Studios, if you can stand in one place and look around for a moment, you will see the Pixar Place sign with the Pixar lamp. You have to look up.
Keep looking up and on the side of the building, you can see the green army men from Toy Story with a giant Scrabble board. How fun is that?!
And the monkeys from the Barrel of Monkeys game hang across the street overhead. More giant toys!
But one thing I have never seen before that I was able to see this time was a view of the Cinderella’s Castle from the end of Main Street with no people on it. Yes, no people – well maybe one if you look really, really closely. How amazing is that?!
Sebastian posting from the ‘World’:
As promised, I am happy to share some photos taken of me and my furry friends. If you recall, I had the great honor of meeting Mickey and Minnie. As you know, Minnie made Mickey a bear to keep him company and they called him Duffy. I really wanted to meet Duffy for real . . .
and here we are.
Duffy was absolutely magnificent. He showed such great enthusiasm for meeting me and is so very, very sweet. It was a great pleasure and a memorable experience. And that’s what Disney is all about anyway, right?
Check out this salute. Pure and 100% Duffy! You should meet him sometime. You won’t be disappointed. I wish I could bring him home with me.
Then I was super surprised when they took me to meet Pooh bear. Why? Well, because Pooh brought Tigger along with him. Or maybe it was the other way around.
In any case, I was thrilled by these two. They took to me as if I was a long lost friend and gave out hugs to everyone. Surely meeting them and their friends will be one of the highlights of my trip.
We were out and about when I spotted these statues of Pooh’s friends so I insisted on having my photo made with them. Please ignore the human in the photo. She’s only there to make sure I get in the picture.
Here’s a game I like to play. It’s called “Where’s Sebastian?”
This is a photo of the Roy O. Disney, the first of two Walt Disney World trains we got to ride.
Okay, one last photo – of me, of course – for now. This is me on the front of the Roger E. Broggie. I was offered the job of conductor but all I really wanted to do was ring the bell and toot the whistle. I guess you can’t have everything.
Sebastian here – for a change. And guess what? I found the missing orb. Okay, so I had to go a long way south to find it. But who cares, right? I mean, it’s Florida after all. The sun is everywhere and I’m hoping to bring a little of it back with me to North Carolina.
Not only that, I figured as long as we are here, I thought it was high time that I meet some long adored friends - especially since they left me behind last time. And the time before that.
My first experience meeting Mickey and Minnie in person was unforgettable. They are the nicest, sweetest couple I’ve ever met. Really, they are. I mean you hear about them all the time and you sort of think, well, surely it must be a little bit of an exaggeration. Nope! They are charming and delightful. If you ever get a chance, please go and introduce yourself. They love people of all ages – and bears too!
This is my treasured photo of the three of us.
Check it out – I was sitting in Mickey’s palm! That white glove is ever so soft!
When I left, Minnie gave me a kiss. I’m never washing my face again! It might be a little sticky after I’ve eaten my Mickey ears ice cream cone, but that’s okay.
And as long as I am playing blog author, please come back and see who else I’ve met tomorrow.
I hesitated about sharing these photos we took when we went to Fells Point in Baltimore. Why? Let’s take an inventory. London photos – no sun. Asheville photos – no sun. Fells Point photos – well you get the idea. The big orb in the sky was acting shy and stayed hidden as if waiting for just the right moment to make an appearance.
While we were with our dear friends - whom we hadn’t seen in ages, who made it that much more fun, who knew where they were going - we took a few photos there. Even though there was no sun, we did have a great time and these photos remind me of that.
Cobblestone streets made for a bumpy ride.
A view from the waterfront.
A tribute to Maryland’s blue crab. Wait. Let’s take a closer look.
I should have known Sebastian would show up somewhere.
Did you ever watch the TV show Homicide – Life on the Street? I never did but if you lived here, you would know that this is where it was filmed. “The Baltimore City Police” for the show.
This is one artist gallery we could have lingered in for a long time if it hadn’t been near closing. Check out the faces below.
This artist must really have some fun with his subjects. Can’t you tell? And these faces . . .
It was difficult to settle on these out of all the choices, but these really made us smile.
The cherry blossom trees were in full bloom – the promise of Spring. I think it won’t be long before we’ll see that missing orb too!
Before the show opened, I was able to walk around the show and snap a few close-ups of some faces that I thought I would post here – a little variety from the artists’ tables. While you look at these photos, I’ll keep sewing on my next project. The Doll & Teddy Convention will be here before you know it and I want to be ready!
