Before you set your sights on the rest of this taste tour, it might be wise to start with a full ‘Kentish’ breakfast at the B&B where you are lodging. You know what they say – breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The only way to test this adage is to have a good one and see if ‘they’ are right.
Once you have had your breakfast, there will be lots of things to see and do in Canterbury. All of them will build your appetite. Things like . . .
Seeing the old (& sometimes crazy) buildings there. And this second one is the Mayor of Canterbury’s residence.
You might see some very old and unusual trees or take a very fascinating boat tour along the River Stour.
Perhaps you would enjoy dinner at The Goods Shed. Choosing what to order will be difficult but if everyone in your party orders something different, you may get a taste of several things – and dessert too.
Steak (that’s all I can remember!) or vegetarian!
For dessert: treacle tart with blood orange ice cream or perhaps you will choose the warm chocolate fondant dessert with ice cream. Delicious!
Somewhere along the line you may want to tour the Canterbury Cathedral. I don’t think you want to spend your whole day looking at all the photos I took there but maybe these few will whet your appetite.
This is the four of us looking in a mirror at the ceiling in the Chapter House.
Wait a minute. Look who snuck into a couple of the photos that I took in the Chapter House at the cathedral.
You have to look close. Really, really, really close. Closer than that now.
Yep, Sebastian was never very far away. And always, always, ready to taste something a little sweet.
All that walking around certainly will earn you some brownie points in the dessert area. You can easily find a French patisserie to tempt your palate. Why not get a selection of various things so everyone can have a taste?
Clockwise from top left: Chocolate Mousse with a Profiterole, Mille Feuille, Whoopie Pie, and Macarons.
Yeah, I know you might want a closer look. Did they taste as good as they looked? Better!
It might seem from these photos that all we did was eat. That’s not exactly true. We did have a really good time tasting all kinds of different and new-to-us things but we also saw a lot of wonderful sights which I hope to share here and there on this blog before my memory of the details fade. Thanks for traveling along virtually with us!
Between the wonderful things to see and the wonderful food, it seems it might be a tad difficult to come home! (mmmmmm... chocolate...)
ReplyDeleteI can't thank you enough for all these pictures because it will be as close as I will be to ever visit in the real.
ReplyDeleteSebastian, that must have been a mighty big chair. You looked so tiny.
Hugs
Wilbur.
Thank you for the nice pictures!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Conni
