Sebastian, the Adventurer

Here I am on the cusp of adventure.

Yes that’s me with my latest plan in place. “What plan?” you may ask.

I had to do some finagling to get everything in order but I did it. The first thing was to secure this basket from you-know-who. I had to get around the twenty questions she asked me. Things like what size basket? And round or square? Woven or wooden? Who knew it would be so complicated? Just a basket please – with a handle. Thank you.

I had to be very cunning to get the next part which was balloons. I’ll bet you are wondering how I convinced her to buy them for me, eh?

It wasn’t very hard. I just put on my ‘cute’ face and made my eyes really big. Works every time. Can you see where this is going?

Yep! I’m going on my very first balloon ride! Maybe you can come with me next time.

I’m ready for takeoff. Isn’t this exciting?

Don’t worry. I’ll be back before you know it.

Here I go. I’m floating into the sky.

Whoa! This really is very, very far off the ground.

This is fun. You guys look like Lilliputians from up here!

Oh yes. Please tell you-know-who that I took a few supplies with me so she might have to go get some more milk and chocolate chip cookies.

Alrighty!  See you later!  I’ll try to send you some postcards along the way.

  1. Oh! Sebastian, don't fall out. I bet you can see the birds flying and be careful not to bump into clouds.
Can't wait to see you back on the ground.

    1. Hi Wilbur!

Don't worry Wilbur. I will be very careful. The birds don't seem to be very interested in having lengthy conversations. Maybe it's because I am new up here.

      hugs,
      Sebastian

    1. Hi Katy,

I had no idea! But it is quite fun, breezy and hopefully I'll find something interesting to report on while I'm traveling.

  4. Oh Sebastian, please be careful. I'll be watching the sky today, maybe I will see you "drifting" over my house.

Have heaps of fun up there.

    1. Hi there Prudence!

I will be very careful dear Prudence. If you see my balloons or the bottom of my basket, holler really really loud so I can wave at you.

    1. Hi Val,

Oh, I won't go tooooo far. I think I should have be home before dinner but the stick shift in this thing isn't working too well so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the good wishes!

  6. Well done, Sebastian!! I've always wanted to go on a balloon ride, now I know what I have to get together to do it myself. I think I'll need a few more balloons than you though--do you think they will sell me THAT many balloons at once? And how the heck am I going to get them all back home? Darn, I guess I'm going to have to give this a bit more thought. Thanks for the idea, though, I'm sure I'll be able to make it work one way or another!

    1. Hi Cheryl,

The first bit - taking off is kind of wobbly but you just close your eyes. Then when you look up you see all those lovely balloons overhead. I think you will need more balloons than me but just think how pretty they will be! See me photos when you go up!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  7. Oh my, Mr. Sebastian! How exciting!!

I hope you've packed something to shoo away birds with pointy beaks! Those, and tree branches, like to poke fun at balloon adventures!!!

I think we need to see some photographs from inside the basket! (and no, not OF the inside of the basket!)
    :)

    1. Hi Heather,

You know I didn't think about pointy beaked birds. Now I am a little worried. I better start whistling! I'm glad you were so clever as to specify which kind of photos that you wanted to see because if I take some of inside the basket all you would see is my big feet which seem entirely too large for the situation I am in at the moment.

Keep in touch you clever girl!
      hugs,
      Sebastian

  8. You haven't watched "Up", recently, have you Sebastian? :) Either way, a balloon ride looks like fun! Enjoy those cookies, and be careful, and come back very soon! We all would miss you!

    1. Hi Kay Joy,

Oooooh! I love Up! In fact, I would watch that movie just to see that scene of the house flying away tethered to all those balloons. Wouldn't that be a dream!?! Thank you for your good wishes. I would miss you too if I stayed away too long. They don't like it when I am late for dinner. That's why I am going backwards - so I'll have more time and still be home for tea!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

    1. Hi Elanor,

I knew better than to invite you to come with me but I'll try to take some photos so you can see the view from up here. I hope it's a grand adventure too - the good kind - not the "why did I ever do this?" kind.

      hugs,
      Sebastian
