High Five and a Hug

Sebastian here just popping in to say a quick hello and to introduce you to my new pen pal. Kind of. I don’t think he knows what pen pals are so technically speaking we might not yet be pen pals.

I think you have to start with being pals first and that’s what we are – pals. We can add the pen part later.

I don’t think he knows how to write but you never know. He might learn sometime or other.  He’s very good at hive fives though. I taught him that.

I’m the official hugger-good-byer and waver-off-er. I take my job very seriously. If a bear leaves here without his or her hug and wave good-bye, they have to come back and do it all over again.

Not that I mind seeing them again, truly, but it’s up to me to keep things rolling along and I don’t like to get behind in my responsibilities. It makes snack time run into dinner.

Here’s his official ID photo. He needed one to get in the priority line which means he’ll be landing just in time for dinner on the other end. I know I’m stealing from someone famous when I say this, but I always like to tell the news guys “Write if you get work.”

Oh I'm happy to show off my friends. I thought at first he might miss me a little but then I remembered he'll have lots of friends to play with there. If he writes, I'll let you know.

    1. Hi Mouse,

Sh-h-h-h. Don't tell anyone but it's a fun job! If someone wants me to vacuum, I just find a bear, give him or her a hug, and say "I'm busy working!" ha ha!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  4. Oh we definitely approve of the latest member of the hug to head out into the world, he definitely looks like an expert huggerer as well, which really, when you're that size, you have to be!

    1. Hi Jack!

We all specialize in hugs, don't we? Even if we are wee! I think it just comes with being a bear, but I think it works out all around.

      hugs,

  5. Oh my! He's sooo cute! I can't wait to meet him!

I think Dot will have to teach him about pens.

... wait a minute... I don't think Dot ever got a hug from Sebastian! 0_0

Now he's saying he needs to go back and get one!

    1. Hi Heather,

He's very excited I can tell you! I'm sure he believes it's all fun and games. Well I ask you, why not? It IS all fun and games, right? Now, about Dot. What can I say? He gets around, I hear. Just take care. He might decide to go to Hawaii and take the new guy along for company!

  8. Hi Sebastian! Your new pen-pal looks great, and it looks like you've got him well stocked on hugs and high fives! That should last him until he gets to his new home. :) Or longer - bears are the best at giving hugs!

    1. Hi Kay Joy,

I think he's pretty spiffy too. One can never have too many hugs unless you are eating cookies then all you have are cookie crumbs. You make me smile inside and out!

      hugs,

  10. Hey Sebastian!

Well done for sending the new guy out with a special good bye & a lesson in high-fives, high fives are the best!

    Love Fiona x

P.S Benny wanted to send you a quick message!

    Hi Sebastian,
I don't know if Ginger told you but I arrived safely in the UK last week. Customs held me hostage for two days but they let me go after Fiona paid the fees. So far England is very cold and wet cos it hasn't stopped raining yet!
    Love Benny xx

    1. Hi Fiona,

Thank you! I do my best! I've found I'm very good at teaching the high five move.

      Hi Benny,

Glad you arrived safe and sound and maybe the rain will stop soon. In the meantime, you can teach Fiona the 'Hive Five' - that different version of the high five I taught you! Hang in there!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  11. HI Sebastian,
I'm an intermittent blog follower and every now and then I drop in to see how you're getting on. It's nice to see a new member of your far flung hug. My friend Jack who went to Scotland to live with Katy at the Littlest Thistle inspired me to start my own journeying around.

I'm called Wee Jock (or Jock to my friends) and I came from Katy's hug. I've just come back from India with my porter Alan, who writes my blog too. I'm a bit bigger than Jack, though he and I are best friends and he has told me all about the joys and perils of travel.

    1. Hi Jock,

It's very nice to meet you, a fellow bear traveler. Oh my, India. It sounds so exotic. I'm envious. I am going to have to visit your blog and see what I am missing. If it sounds exciting, I may have to start my campaign to go further afield into the world. It's nice to have a porter - I like the sound of it. Just between us guys, that's a really good name for the people who do the carrying. Wonder if I could get away with it or if I would be told exactly how things are. Anyway, thank you for stopping by. I am so glad to meet you!

      hugs,
      Sebastian
