Dabbling.

I think that is a very curious word. Dabbling. I very much like its thesaurus entries too.

d_1

Experiment, try your hand, dip into, and play at.

The reason I like them is because they are words that exactly describe my studio work these past few days.

d_2

I wanted to see this bear in a smaller size. Just to see how it would turn out.
An experiment.

d_3

This is a shot of the bear in progress.
Trying my hand.

d_4

I wanted to see how difficult it would be to work in this size.
Dip into.

d_5

And then how I might represent the difference in their sizes.
Play at.

d_6

Funny how those Tootsie Rolls just happened to be hanging about in the kitchen, isn’t it?

d_7

I also had a clothespin handy. Clothespins – we go back a long way, but I digress.

d_8

Here are the little buddies in a close up.

d_9

Even the two of them together barely make up a handful.

d_10

Now I need to decide where to go from here. Sometimes you cannot make a fair assessment from just a little dabbling. Sometimes you need to give it another go.

    1. Hi Ladytats,

Thank you! I haven't yet chosen a name. And no new home just yet - maybe he/she is waiting for her name?

    1. Hi Val,

I'm so glad you like the different sizes. It certainly challenges me when I'm working on them but is rewarding to find someone likes them!

      Thank you!

    1. Hi Kay Joy,

Yea! Thanks for your enthusiastic response. One never knows when you're in the midst of a project so feedback is very needed. I think I will see how another one will turn out.

Thanks so much. They are fun to make - I just have to get used to different techniques for this small size. Have fun on your travels!

  10. Hi Jack and The Clan,

I will relay your observations to the head bear maker here. I know she needs a lot of help and who better to advise her than us bears. Thank you on her behalf!

    hugs,

  12. They are both super cute. I hope you create more baby bears, so bears like Matilda can have a little brother or sister.

  13. Hi Bonnnie,

Thank you so much. I am working on another one or two. We'll see how they turn out. Sebastian says to tell Matilda hello. As for me, I know she will get into less trouble there than here without Sebastian's influence.

How very kind of you. It seems you are not alone in liking the littlest one. S'pose I'll have to make another.

  15. Wow Sebastian, Your Mum is really very clever, though seeing her holding just a bit of the little bear gave me quite a fright. I'm glad the rest of him made an appearance 'cos a bodyless head is a bit like a ghost.

Welcome to the world little bears,

    Hugs,

    Jock

    1. Hi Jock,

I'm sure my mum read your comment because she's been smiling since she read it. Or it could be the cake she had for dessert. Either way I know she appreciates it. And the little bear appreciates the warm welcome too.

      Have fun Jock!

      Hugs,
      Sebastian

  16. Hi
I agree with everyone else's comments - these bears are just fantastic. I really love the little one with the shading around his nose. What does Sebastian think of these new "chaps"?
    Keep creating,
    Jo

  17. Hi Jo,

Thanks so very much! Sebastian always always thinks the more, the merrier. He loves showing them around, telling them what's what and more often than not, telling them how to get around the rules. Really, there's not that many. And most of them have to do with sharing, so I don't know exactly what he's telling them. They're all laughing at the end though, so I suppose it's okay.

    Thanks for reading!
