A Day in the Life

I thought I would share some photos taken throughout the day today. The highlights mainly – not things like brushing my teeth. Later, if you’re willing, I’d like your opinion on something.

My husband got a glimpse of this photo and thought it was a hushpuppy but it’s actually  the start of a bear that for one reason or another I felt compelled to create. I put others in progress aside for the moment.

Later around lunchtime, I was in the kitchen and snapped these photos. This one is of the bouquet my husband brought home to me from the Farmer’s Market.

aditl_2

This one is of some roses I bought to decorate the tables for the dinner we had here Monday evening. Of course I told everyone that I grew them from seed that very morning. I don’t know why they didn’t believe me.

aditl_3

After lunch I worked a bit more on the ted head. Nose & eyes-

aditl_4

and ears-

aditl_5

After dinner, it was raining a little. Not a downpour, but a light rain. Not so much that you couldn’t get out and walk in the park.

aditl_6

So that is what we did. That’s where I took this photo of the Andy Griffith statue with flowers left recently in his memory

aditl_7

and this one of the rain on the pond . . .

aditl_8

and on the bridge.

aditl_9

Then we stopped for coffee after which

aditl_10

we went home and I returned to work on the giant. Actually size is relative. This new bear will only be six inches tall but next to the small one, he seems rather large by comparison.

aditl_11

Here’s your chance to offer input by voting on one of the following photos I took while we were at the park. I couldn’t choose just one because I liked them all for different reasons. So I decided to let you pick your favorite – if you want. Just leave a comment with the number of your favorite – you don’t have to say why unless you want to.

aditl_12

Now, I’m off to watch the rain – unless it has stopped.

  1. I love your "giant" ted head, Ginger! The wee one is adorable, too! I loved all the pictures and thought it would be fun to photoshop fairies under those huge mushrooms! My favorite is the first photo but it was a difficult choice as I really like #2, too! Hugs, Janice

    1. Hi Janice,

Thanks a lot! It means a great deal to have someone like you who is very talented like my bears. A good idea - adding the fairies. That'd be a fun exercise.

Thanks for your vote on #2.

  2. #2 it makes me feel that if I really looked close enough I would see fairies in amongst the mushrooms and leaves. They are there, just peeking, and if I just try hard enough I could see them.

    1. Hi Ladytats,

If I follow the advice of Janice above, you might really be able to see the fairies! :D

Some of these shrooms were growing in a circle - a fairy circle!

      Thank you for voting!

  3. Your bears are so cute! I fall in love over and over again anew. So sadly that I cannot hold them in my hands.

Many thanks for the photos! I like No. 2.

    1. Hi Prudence,

I wondered if the bit of pink in the photo would catch anyone's eye. It is a tiny nod to color on a rainy day.

Thanks for voting - both of you for #3

  6. I love your sweet little bears! They are just adorable! Do you know what kind of roses those are? I have never seen those ~ They are beautiful!
Hmmmm I think picture number 2 but I am not sure why ~

    1. Hi Lori,

Thank you very much. I'm so glad you like them. I do not know what kind of roses they are and there wasn't a label. If I see them again in the shop, I will take note. They were by far the most unique ones there - that's why I chose them. I had never seen that kind before myself.

Thanks for stopping by, reading and voting!

  7. Definitely, photo #2! LOL! I have no idea why. I'm just so darn used to giving advice to my photographer husband and artist mother that I just say what's on the top of my head and can't explain why!

    See you soon!
    Warmly,

Ah, a photographer's wife's opinion. Well, you are in good company because that one is what most of the others are voting for too. Sometimes a gut reaction is the best way to go!

Looking forward to seeing you! Safe travels. Thanks for voting!

  8. I like the #2 photo...I think because of the little mushroom turned on its side.
I enjoyed going along with you on your walk in the rain...
Sweet little faces on your bears.

You are in good company with your vote. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk in the rain. We enjoyed it too - a nice change from 100° temperatures.

      Thanks bunches!

  9. My vote is for #3 - I think they are all great but the touch of pink tipped the nod to #3. Your new Ted looks so sweet so far. I love all your flowers ;0). So beautiful! What a lovely monument to a sweet man as well.

    1. Hi Stitching Noni,

Another vote for #3. Even though the blossoms littered the ground in places, this one seemed to land a little off course. I think a nice touch as well.

Andy is certainly beloved here and thanks for your comment about the flowers. They are not an everyday thing but so nice to have about occasionally!

  10. We had a vote, and we're going for option #2 for the balance between open foreground and mushroom filled background.

We're not sure what a hush puppy is, but as it's dinner time round here, Birch was rather convinced picture #1 was a meatball. His stomach rumbled just after that though...

    1. Hi Jack and The Clan,

Thanks for your vote and your reasoning. Good guess about a hushpuppy. It is food related! A cornmeal fried concoction from the South that is probably bad for you but tastes good if they are made properly.

Hope you get a treat or some dinner soon!

  11. I totally enjoyed your post and the "hushpuppy" mention had me laughing out loud here in my sewing room HA!! I LOVE them and it surely does look like one :-)
I think I like photo 3 because it looks like The March of the Mushrooms! I like them all but if I had to choose that would be it.
    Thanks for the smiles!!

    1. Hi Lynn,

I'm glad you got a laugh out of the hushpuppy remark. My husband is something else, let me tell you! I admit to loving hushpuppies too. Maybe that tells you where my husband's focus is most of the time! :D

Another vote for #3. I'm keeping count!

      Thanks for reading!

  12. Hi Ginger,
Lovely pics - and I pick No.2 after a lot of deliberation. Each one has its own charm, but if I were a fairy that photo would entice me to explore further. Maybe the pink item in the Pic 3 was left by a fairy in a hurry!

    1. Hi Kayzy,

Thank you! And thanks for voting! I hadn't thought about what would appeal to a fairy. Nice perspective there. Now where would a fairy rush off to? An impromtu fairy dance in the meadow? Something to ponder . . .

    1. Hi Ani,

Thanks for your input - you have lots of company. I was surprised to find more flowers still being put there. Guess loads of people loved the show and Andy especially. A lot of classic stories there for sure. A nice representation of a simpler time.

  14. Hi Ginger
I am so happy that you have finally received some rain. I do hope that the temperature has come down as well. I hope more rain is coming your way. I understand why you could not choose a favourite photograph as I really struggled to choose my favourite they all look good for different reasons.
Take care and I will keep waiting to see when the little light brown bear in the photo above to become available for "rehoming", maybe to Australia. :) Jo

    1. Hi Jo,

It's been nice to see a little of the much needed rain. Some received more than others, but some is better than none at this point. Thanks for contemplating a choice - people are really giving it some thought. I'm still waiting to make a final tally. If the little bear doesn't make it to Australia, I do like creating that pattern so I'm sure he'll have some relatives.

      Thanks,

#2 - not sure why though because all 3 are good photos

    1. Hi Bonnie,

It was a rather different and fun day. The new bear really seems 'huge' to me after the littler ones. It used to be that 12" was my large - now what do I call them? Gigantos? :D

Anyway, I'm beginning to analyze the photos from the votes and am wondering if it's the perspective now as well as the focus. I'm slightly above in the other two photos but really eye level in #2.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Tatting!

  16. The new teddy bear looks like he or she is going to be really cute. It is raining here right now - yay! I did not know until I read this that Andy Griffith had passed away. I love those old shows. :) And I like picture #2, but I am not sure how to explain why.

    1. Hi Kay Joy,

I am kinda pleased with how the bear is turning out. It was a well loved pattern but with some tweaks.

As for some of Andy's shows, we can tell you the dialogue from bits and pieces of many of those classic shows. Too funny many of them.

Youtr voted has been tallied, noted and much appreciated!

      Thank you!
