A Feet-on-the-Railing Kind of Night

We had friends over – about 9 or so. The kind you would trust with your life. We ate. We laughed. We told stories. Then we ate some more and we laughed some more. Then they decided they had to go home.

We had heard it was going to rain and we need it here. So, after the food and the fun and the friends, we went out on the porch in the darkness and waited for the rain to come.

The bugs and critters were calling to each other and the wind was beginning to pick up a bit. I think our record breaking heat streak may have ended – for now. They say the rain is coming.

We enjoyed listening to the sounds in the darkness for a while. It was a feet on the porch railing kind of night. The rain didn’t come while we were out there but I think I heard some thunder so maybe . . .

  1. I do hope you get relief with a good down pour and a nice breeze to blow through the house. If you are like me I get so drained when the heat goes on too long.

    1. Hi Kays Kids,

I think we just might - it sure looks like it. Yep, people around here are definitely dragging a bit. Fingers crossed!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Hi Ginger,

Oh, I wish we could send you some of our rain....I guess you don't need the heat and humidity, but if you want some.....I would love to share. (o:

    Hi Sebastian,

Those pesky skitters didn't bite you, did they?

    1. Hi The Bear's Blog and Prudence,

No, you don't have to send the heat and humidity, thank you. We'll take the rain though - some, please. Not floods. Can I be too particular? Ha ha! And no, we avoided the mosquitoes or should I say they avoided us!

      Thanks again for reading!

  3. Those are nice evenings... We've had one of those record heat waves ourselves, but no rain yet! The grass is brown and crunches under our feet. If you get some flooding, you can send the extra water over this way, ok? ;0)

    1. Hi Kay Joy,

It's cloudy so it looks like it might possibly rain. And it's not quite as hot. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to distribute water where it's needed?! If i could manage it I would!

      :D

  4. Oh, we know where the rain went, it's here. It's always here. We haven't had a day without rain for over a month and a half *sigh*

    1. Hi Katy and Jack,

I have heard about all of the rain - rain, rain, rain you are getting. It's definitely not being evenly distributed, is it? We're in a moderate drought and you have an onslaught. Oh well...

Hope you get a dry day soon!

  5. Hi Ginger,
Has the rain come yet? Hope so. We're in the middle of winter here in South Australia, so it's hard to imagine hot, dry weather at present - but come summer time ...!
    Hugs to you

    1. Hi Kayzy,

I think some nearby have gotten some rain but here near us, it's only been a little bit - not a downpour, more of a light sprinkling. Though not a fan of cloudy days, since we need the rain, I hope we'll get what we need for the plants, lakes, animals etc.

It is kind of odd thinking about the other hemisphere being in winter while we're in summer. Thanks so much for asking!
