What Sebastian Is Up To

The other day someone asked me what Sebastian was up to. I have been so involved with my project I really didn’t know. It occurred to me that I hadn’t seen him in a while so I thought I had better check on him.

I had to look far and wide. I looked to the West and I looked to the East.

Finally I spotted something that was very curious.

wsiut_2

I saw this small tent in the distance and decided I better investigate.

wsiut_3

As I approached, I thought the paws protruding from the tent looked eerily familiar.

wsiut_4

I was right! Sebastian has been hanging out at the beach.

wsiut_5

I asked him what he was doing and he said he was saying goodbye to summer. “How is that?” I asked him and he replied, “By relaxing on the beach and reading and thinking.” He was re-reading the classic “The Three Bears”.

He said he had also been teaching himself how to play the harmonica. By the way, he still has a lot of practicing ahead of him.

Catching up on his journal entries also occupied his time.

wsiut_7

He also told me he was reading all his old issues of Teddy Bear Times.

wsiut_8

“How much longer are you going to be?” I asked. “Oh, just a little while longer,” he answered. He suggested I hang out with the seagulls until he was ready to pack up his tent.

The thing is I wasn’t sure this guy was quite ready to make friends. And I don’t think Sebastian was quite ready to say goodbye to summer either.

  1. Living by the beach must be so good Sebastian. Although saying good bye to summer is not nice. Us bears like to play outside in the sun. Now we will have to put up our umbrellas or play in the rain....(Granny won't allow). May be you have a good idea for rainy days?

    1. Hi Wilbur,

It's so good to hear from you! I don't live very close to the beach but if I get a head start I can be there lickety split! Luckily, this time it was quite a while before anyone noticed I wasn't there at snack time.

I will try to think up some games to play when the weather isn't that good. Ours is getting cooler so it might be a good idea to have a few interesting things to do when the sun isn't out to play.

I'll share if I come up with anything!

      Hugs,
      Sebastian

  2. Oh no, I just heard a thud of paws leaping off the sofa and heading for the camping gear! I can already hear the arguments about what picnic to pack, what reading material, and who gets what blanket. I did catch Jack on his way and reminded him that he has a VERY BIG TRIP coming up in a week and a half, and he might not want to run away and miss that, so he's back to hanging out in my camera bag...

Enjoy the end of summer Sebastian, I now have to break it to the gang here, that the howling wind and rain we've been having here for the last week means it's well and truly over here!

    1. Hi LT,

Oh, I think it would be a great idea for you to pack the tent and all of you could sleep in it when you go on your trip. Wouldn't that be loads and loads of fun? That camera bag might get a little crowded with everyone in it but I think you could probably talk them into it if you said you were taking them camping. Jack could squeeze them all in - and you too!

So sorry to hear about your rain. I guess if you were to go camping now you'd have to take a raft along just to get to your camp site eh? Well, we're all looking forward to reading about your grand adventure so my best to you and Jack. Have a great time!

      Hugs,
      Sebastian

  3. Hi Sebastian,

You must say goodbye to summer but not to visiting the beach. Gee, my humans say that they love the beach in the winter. It's not crowded, or hot, and it's fun to bundle up for a nice walk on the beach.

    Have a beary good week.

    Hugs

    1. Hi Prudence,

I do like fall very much indeed but I also like summer and being able to relax in the sunshine. I also like the beach in the winter - just like your humans. When no one is there I feel like I have the whole place to myself.

Have a good week to you too.

      Hugs,
      Sebastian

  4. Hi Sebastian,
You are a lucky son of a gun. I live near our beach, but if I tried to put up my tent, I would just be blowed away.
You look like you are having a great time. I think you're right to tell the staff to go and play with the seagulls. After all you've been negleckereated for some time, what with her playing with all that play dough.
Don't let her tell you she's working, cos she's just playing. I spect what comes out will be really pretty, but nevertheless she's been ignoring you. No wonder you went to the beach.
You enjoy your time on the sand. Make sure you take ALL the time you need to read every word of your books and magazines. Just keep her waiting. That'll teach her!
    Hugs,

    1. Hi Jock,

I don't really live THAT close to the beach but I can get there pretty quick if I don't stop for any snacks along the way.

It was very calm and quiet there this time. There were a few flies out and one lady said something very funny...She said "Those flies have teeth!" I almost split a seam!

I did have a great time and I took your very good advice and made everyone wait until I read every single word on every last past of every book and magazine I brought with me.

I know she pretends to be working but I see what she's up to. She loves what she's doing and can only get away with it if she calls it work. One day I heard her even call it playing with her toys so she's not fooling anyone - least of all me.

I hope you enjoy your adventures, Jock and I will look forward to reading what kinds of things you are doing. I liked seeing the photos from your last hike.

      Hugs,
      Sebastian

    1. Hi Elanor,

I think summer was a bit short this year - it came, I had fun, and then it went - way too fast.

I did enjoy my time at the beach - I especially liked looking at the ocean. It was so calm - like glass almost.

The someone you speak of is already back at work - or whatever she's calling what she does these days.

Yes, that little bear on the cover is very familiar isn't he? Such a cutie!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  7. My dog Teddy has been doing the same thing just enjoying the last rays of warm sun on his belly. I find him snoozing in the yard all the time. I love your tent and so glad to see you reading the classics. Take care sweet bear!

Tell Teddy I'm glad he has the important things figured out! I like my tent too but I don't get to use it nearly enough.

You take care too! You and Teddy.

  8. Summer is tough to say goodbye too... but Fall around here is so wonderful! The clean, crisp, cool air!! The changing colors!!! Amazing. In the perfect world (for me) it would be perpetually Fall and Spring.

    1. Hi Heather,

I agree that Fall is wonderful. I used to say that Fall was my favorite season of the year. Now I just can't seem to make up my mind. Fall and Spring - it's hard to choose just one. Summer temperatures at the ocean - terrific. Pretty snowfalls in the winter - beautiful. As you can see, choosing a favorite would take me all day!

      Thanks for stopping by!
