Summer is Waning

In a mere two weeks, summer will officially be over.

siw_8

Time to say so long to our beloved sand and sea at Sunset for the time being.

The light at the beach is already different now.

The morning glories came out for a “see ya next time” on our seaside stroll.

These next photos show the old pontoon bridge that was the only way to get on the island just a mere two years ago.

It has been replaced by a more modern and safer bridge. Nevertheless, for many long time visitors, the old bridge holds a special place in our hearts.

So much so that the old bridge was saved from becoming junkyard scrap and will soon be a museum in the shadow of the new bridge.

Now we can still wave a hello and say thanks for the great memories on every visit.

Sebastian too!

  1. Sebastian, don't breath too heavily you might just tumble off your perch.

    1. Hi Wilbur,

Sebastian likes being a little bit of a dare devil but he didn't get too close to the edge. We appreciate your looking out for him.

    1. Hi Lynda,

It is very picturesque there. We visit as often as our schedules allow and I'm fairly certain those who live there think it is quite excellent living!

  3. Summer very definitely hung its hat up here last week, and we didn't even get to see the beach! We're glad you got a last trip round and they're saving the bridge for you to come back and visit though.

    Hugs

    1. Hi Jack & The Clan,

Certainly fall approaches though I think we will still have some pretty warm days. Maybe just looking at beach photos will carry you through until you can get there. The bridge will get loads of visitors I think. In all the years we have visited we only ever road over it and never got to walk over it. Funny how it works out in the end.

  4. HI Sebastian, I be'd following you all summer, but not commenting 'cos he's lazyyy. You look like you had a fantastic time with the North West AND DIsney. Coo. I like your new friend, but watch he doesn't nibble your tootsies. We had a good summer with France and Scotland, and next month we're off to sunny Italy (well we hope it will be sunny) for a last bit of warmth before the winter. Next year he's promised me a return trip to Inja, with heffalents and tiggers and spice farms and and oh lots of things.
Maybe Alan will get some of my adventures up soon (huh, fat chance).
    Hugs,
    Jock

  5. Florida could use a little a nudge to jump on the "summer is ending" bandwagon, haha. I sure miss the beautiful fall weather in North Carolina. The Sunset pictures are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. So many great memories of that place. I'm glad you all had a nice time!
