Follow the Yellow Brick Road – Part 3

Hi ho. It’s me again – Sebastian. Now where were we? Oh, yeah. We were in the cellar at Dorothy’s house. After the wind died down, we went back upstairs and found everything in disarray.

We went out the door to find that the house had landed on the Wicked Witch – see her striped stockings. How scary! Not the witch – the stockings!

ftybr_2

There was a coroner on the porch who announced “she’s not only merely dead, she’s really most sincerely dead.”

ftybr_3

It was then that we saw the Yellow Brick Road. “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”

ftybr_4

First we met Glinda, the Good Witch with Dorothy and

ftybr_5

then we met some munchkins!

ftybr_6

One of my favorite new friends is the Scarecrow. I get the feeling you couldn’t have a better friend. He was funny and talented too!

ftybr_7

We passed these funny little houses – can you guess who lives in them?

ftybr_8aftybr_8b

Soon we met up with the Tin Man who was a little stiff from rust at the beginning. A little oil in his joints fixed him right up. He let me sit on his shoulder.

ftybr_9

Isn’t he grand?

ftybr_10

I wonder if this sign is really necessary. What do you think?

ftybr_11

Soon we met up with the Lion. How do you like him? I thought he was fabulous!

ftybr_12

We continued to follow the Yellow Brick Road. Follow follow follow!

ftybr_13

After all that following, I needed to take a break so I found the nearest mushroom for a quick rest.

ftybr_14

Then we met up with the witch’s guards.

ftybr_15

I saw those weapons up close and let me tell you, they were sharp – or at least they looked that way to me!

ftybr_16

They told us we could go and visit the Wicked Witch. I wasn’t sure it was a good idea. Thankfully we got out of there without having to throw water on her.

ftybr_17

Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow were all together and they were more than happy to allow me to have my picture made with them.

ftybr_18

This is Ginger and the Scarecrow. He was a very good one too. He could skip and everything.

ftybr_19

Finally we arrived at the gates to Oz. Ring the bell! Ring the bell!

ftybr_19a

The gates were opened by a very grumpy gatekeeper who consented to let us in.

ftybr_19b

We were able to meet the Wizard at long last! It was so much fun.

ftybr_20

Now I know what they mean when they say “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters in the end.”

ftybr_21

And that my friends was our Journey to Oz!

  1. Sebastian, you have the most exciting time. I thought that scare crow look a great guy as well, although I was scared to see you so close to those guards. I didn't see little To To was he hiding behind people?
I am so glad you told us this great story.

    1. HI Wilbur and Granny!!!

It was very exciting! All the folks in Oz were very friendly - even if they didn't look like it sometimes. Our To-To was safe at home and I'm glad because I would have been worried about him getting lost in Oz!

I'm glad you enjoyed reading about our trip to Oz!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  2. Oh, Sebastian! You clearly had a grand ol' time at Oz! I'm thinking I may have to go visit there someday. We have a yearly Oz Fest in a nearby town which is the birthplace of Frank Baum, but it's nothing like your Oz!! What is kind of neat about our Oz Fest is that members of the original cast of munchkins generally attend it--but, of course, they are getting older and there are fewer and fewer of them each year.

    Heaps of Hugs,

    1. Hi Miss Cheryl,

We did have a great time in Oz! Who knew Oz was in North Carolina? Well, apparently Ginger did but so few people do. I would love to see your Oz fest! I am told members of the cast of the movie were regular fixtures at the Autumn at Oz festival here but like you say, there are so few of them left now. I am going to have to work on getting myself up to your part of the country and maybe we can go to Oz fest too!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

    1. Hi Jock,

It was loads of fun and I wish you had been with us. I have a feeling that you and Alan would be terrific traveling companions. Not only that there were some mountains to climb and seeing as how you are an expert . . .

And as for Wilbur, I think there are TWO Oz's - one North and one South! :D

      hugs.
