The Plan

Hi ho. Sebastian here. I waited. Sometimes I waited alone.

Sometimes I waited with a friend.

We were very patient. What were we waiting for you ask? We heard it was supposed to snow! We love it when it snows. Not just a little bit but enough to cover everything in white. Here where I live, snow is an excuse to make a grand ol’ day of having fun.

Now waiting for snow requires a lot of patience. And sometimes you have to wait a very long time. I knew that it might take a while for the snow to show up because that is how snow is. If it just drops from the sky without any warning, everyone goes scrambling around trying to make sure everything gets taken care of properly. But if it takes its time arriving, there is the fun of anticipation. Waiting can be very, very worthwhile.

It wasn’t my idea, but when I found out about The Plan, I didn’t have any objections. No, I thought The Plan was a really good one so I encouraged those with driver’s licenses to follow through with The Plan which included bringing home some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Since it is nearly February, I was happy to see that they modified their usual selection to include these festive ones.

tp_7

It did snow – not quite as much as the weatherman said it might - but snow is snow!

tp_3

Now being a bear doesn’t mean I actually get out in it. No, I’m pretty much a ‘look at it from the window’ kind of guy. First of all, The Plan meant that someone had to guard the doughnuts from the Abominable Snowman while they played in the snow.

tp_8

That’s what I told them anyway. Secondly, I didn’t have any snow boots and everyone knows that a bear without snow boots is just asking for cold paws. You just can’t eat a Krispy Kreme doughnut with cold paws. Let’s keep our priorities straight.

Now The Tophinator is new at this sort of thing so he got fooled into going outside. What a nut! I could have told him it was cold but he had to find out for himself. I think he thought if he ran fast enough he could keep his paws off the ground but that gravity concept hasn’t sunk in yet. It was fun being inside watching from the window with a cup of hot cocoa in one paw and an X shaped doughnut in the other.

Oh, I also commandeered the remote control to the TV. Everyone knows if you have the remote, you get to choose the shows and I decided to have a Little Bear marathon. Captain Picard will have to “make it so” another day.

  1. Snow, Krispy Kreme donuts, and a Little Bear marathon... Sounds like a great plan to me! Maybe I need to do that tomorrow with the snow coming our way - a chocolate chip muffin and Little Bear marathon sounds like fun. Enjoy your white stuff while it lasts!!

    1. Hi there K. Joy,

I think you have a very good plan of your own. I might have to make a note for my staff next time - chocolate in anything sounds great but a muffin would be just the thing on a snowy day! Yum!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

    1. Hi Mari,

Thank you for your kind words - I'll try to remember them when they find out all the doughnuts are gone! Even Topher didn't get a bite!

      hugs,

    1. Hi Lynda,

It can be very pretty when it is fresh and the air is crisp and cold. Mind you this is what I have heard. My only experience is when the door is left open for just a little bit too long. Then it's back to sitting in front of the fire for me!

      hugs,

  4. Hi Sebastian,

Oh, I am loving snow. This last storm was the biggest since we arrived, and it is so much fun waiting and watching for those first few snowflakes. Mom bundled me up in a hat scarf and stuck Vlad in her new boot and we went out on the porch for a quick (really quick) photo shoot. Then we ran in by the fireplace and had hot chocolate. Can't wait for the next snow storm.

Topher looks like a little race horse. Our puppies get real frisky in the snow too.

    1. Hi Prudence,

I'm pretty sure you have a handle on how to handle Vlad but to tell you the truth, I'd be a little bit uneasy if I had to share my doughnuts with him. That fireplace is a good idea - I love to sit in front of mine on a snow day. I hope you and your friends stay warm up there in the mountains! Have fun in your new home!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  5. Hi Sebastian, 'they' are predicting we'll get snow tomorrow, so we might have to sit and watch it while LT goes to work. Alas, we haven't seen any doughnuts around here :o(

    1. Hi Jack, Boo & The Clan,

You can't be too careful that's for sure. Sometimes they say a little snow and you get a lot and sometimes they say a lot of snow and you get just a little. Play it safe and make sure LT leaves you well stocked with snacks for the day - and possibly into the evening since she might run into some snow delays - one never knows about humans!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  6. Hi Sebastian,
Oh, I are jealous. You got snoweded on, just like Prudence. We never get snow. Last time they had snow it was in BJ time - you know before Jock - so I've only ever see'd it on the television, though I aspose I did see it in the mountings in Injar when I was a very inexperienced bear. Don't 'spect I'll see any more soon 'cos we live near the sea and not up north like Jack, Boo and the clan. Zeke says he's never see'd snow either, so we'll just have to be patient like you. But if I'm patient will a nurse come and give me a ninjection? We have a friend who was a patient recently and that's what happened to her - a lot. So maybe I'll just be an impatient instead.
    Hugs,
Jock and Zeke and all the other jealous bears.

    1. Hi Jock,

Nice to hear from you my friend. We don't get a lot of snow but every winter we always hold out hope for just enough to get some of the humans out of work and school. I s'pose that isn't very noble but it sure is fun! If you haven't had much experience with snow, I'm confident that Alan will take you along someplace exotic and show you some snow. Just be careful and don't fall into a snow drift! You can be impatient if you want, but I've learned that it doesn't make the snow come any faster. I'm not sure about those ninjections you mentioned. It sounds like it could be quite uncomfortable and we wouldn't want that!

Take care my friend! I'll have some snow cream in your honor!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  7. No snow here Sebastian, I wish there was. It is hot, hot, hot. I hope you don't get a red nose from it pressed up against that cold window pane.
    Hugs Wilbur.

    1. Hi Wilbur,

Sometimes being warm is a good thing - especially when the temperatures here are freezing. And when they are freezing, even though I am inside, I shiver just a bit. Sometime I would love to come and visit you. I would love to see Australia!

      hugs,
      Sebastian
