Two Hands

The other day I received an email from a friend. Not just any friend but one of my dearest friends whom I have known for a very long time. She was going to be within an hour’s drive and thought we might be able to get together.

She was bringing her work to the Quilting and Fiber Art Marketplace. I thought I would show you what a fertile imagination and a pair of hands can create.

Meet Susan Edmonson.

She is the brilliance behind Susan Edmonson Designs.

She designs all kinds of patterns. (and sells them!)

She quilts.

She appliqués.

She embroiders.

She embellishes.

She teaches.

She lectures.

She inspires . . .

and she lets little bears ride on her birds.

If you’d like to see her work in person, she will be at the next Quilting and Needle Art Extravaganza on January 31 in Statesville, NC. Information on the show can be found here. She will also be teaching at John C. Campbell Folk School among other places.  And if you just want to learn more about her work without going anywhere, you can find her on the internet here.

Of course, there’s never enough time with a good friend so I’m trying to bribe her into returning sooner rather than later.  And while she’s busy doing at least five of the above things, I plan to take the inspiration she left in her wake and do something!

  5. I've been lucky enough to have taken a couple of classes with Susan, and she has lectured & taught for my quilting guild here in Wilmington, NC. I LOVE her style and have a hard time not buying her entire inventory of hand mades when I've been lucky enough to be at a show where she is vending. I'm going to try to make Statesville for sure! 1. Hi Ani,

You are very fortunate to have taken classes with Susan! She must be a great teacher and very inspiring. Seems like she has fans everywhere she goes. I'd love to go to Statesville but am not sure I will make it!

      Have fun if you go!
