Hi Ho Lego

Hi ho Lego! It’s me Sebastian. I’ve been trying to convince someone to take me to the new Lego movie. I hear that it’s pretty great.

And I learned a few months ago that you can build just about anything with Legos.

hhl_8

I probably should have mentioned that when someone was making a camera the other day.  You see, ages ago – well, a few months anyway – I went to something called The Art of the Brick.

hhl_0

It was at a kids’ museum. So the question to ponder is “Is it art or is it a toy? Take a look and let me know what you think.

hhl_1

My take is that it is a toy that can be turned into art in the right hands – or paws if the creator is the furry sort like me.

hhl_7

This is a self portrait of the guy who made all these pieces – Nathan Sawaya.

hhl_6

Can you imagine how many millions and millions of Legos it must take to build these things?

Someone just whispered to me that an even better question is where he keeps them all.

hhl_4

I’m just wondering if I asked him nicely if he would make a little table with some chairs for me that would be just right for having a snack of – oh let’s say – some cookies and milk?

M-m-m.  Cookies and milk.  That’s my cue!  I’m signing off now with

love & hugs,

  1. Well Sebastian, Granny says it is a toy turned into art, just like you can do for lots of things. I would love a bag full of that lego. It makes mine look very small.
You are making me hungry talking of cookies and milk.

    1. Hi Wilbur,

I think your Granny is definitely onto something. If you had just a little bit bigger bag of legos, I think you would probably turn them into something fun!

    1. Hi Mari,

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos! I didn't show you all of them, but if you ever get a chance to see this exhibit, you definitely should. You would have fun!

  3. Hi our friend,
You look as if you had some fantastic fun. I definitely think a table and chairs for a snackeral or two would be a good idea, but I'm a bit worried about a couple of things. First, wouldn't all those knobbly bits be uncomfortable to sit on? Also what would you do to get all the crumbly bits when the fall on the bumpy table top. You and we know that they're the bestest bits. Hmm, maybe it's not such a good idea, though, of course, regular snacks ARE definitely an ace suggestion and your humans ought to make sure you get them.
BTW my human has a friend that works for Lego in Denmark and their house is FULL of Lego this and Lego that. 'S not fair.
    Hugs,

    1. Hi Jock, Zeke and the hug,

You do have a point about the bumpy bits. Maybe he could build it sideways? Yeah, I forgot about the crumbs. Sometimes I can fill up on the crumbs and then I'm not so hungry when it's time for dinner.

You are one lucky duck to know so many important people and people with toys are the best kind of people to know.

Maybe you could go for a visit and take some photos - that would be cool!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  4. Well, yes, I would agree that it is art but the one of the man opening his stomach and taking his head off are a bit off-putting!

    1. Hi Granny K,

Not only that they are quite a bit bigger than me so you know, it makes you do a double take.

  6. Well we think after that adventure, you need to go to Legoland to check it out more. Maybe invest in a few lego sets too, start building you're own works of art...

Oh, oh, oh. That would be such fun! What a great idea but I haven't been able to convince them to take me yet. Maybe one day . . .
