A Professional Sitter

Hi ho and hello. Sebastian here and I am excited to share my latest accomplishment with you. I have been unofficially named a professional sitter. Not like a babysitter – I’m talking about actual sitting – like on your haunches or hindquarters, if you get my drift.

My unofficial gig was at the beach this past weekend and since you guys are my favorite peeps, I thought I’d give you the first glimpse of the various places I sat – unofficially of course.

This first spot was relatively easy.  I just had to be my usual charming self and pretend that the sky wasn’t about to open up on my lovely fur.  That’s the fishing pier in the background there.

This one was a little bit more of a challenge.

I had to keep my balance while this big guy wandered around eating the grass.

This is an African turtle and they told us he is 60 years old!  To me he doesn’t look a day over five?  Well, what do I know about turtles?

This particular place was very colorful.  I chose it myself because I love daisies!

Can you guess where I am this time?

Does this close-up give you any clues?

You got it!  This was one giant mushroom!  I’ve sat on a lot of things before, but never a mushroom.  I had to be very, very still because neither one of us wanted to topple over.

Mr. Jay took this photo he calls “behind the scenes”.  Look at all those huge mushrooms!

This could have easily been a very prickly situation but I made sure not to get too close.

Sometimes I even sit on people.  I didn’t mind because he shares his saltwater taffy!

This was the end of a very exciting day.  We sat and watched the sun go down.  These photos were taken in what is called vivid mode – as if I could be any more vivid than I already am.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing these photos of my first unofficial gig as a professional sitter.  Now, I think I’ll go take a nap.  Sitting can be very exhausting.

  1. Hi Sebastian,

Professional sitter - that's a first for me. Do you have to have a special behind for that job? Like a flat one, square, fat, skinny or furry one?

Maybe a "professional behind sitter"? Oh, the confusion of it all.

Anywho, have a great 4th of July and be safe if the weather turns bad.

    1. Hi Prudence,

You are a funny bear! I think this job was made just for me but I'm sure there are other qualified bears that could also be very good sitters!

      Happy 4th to you too!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  3. Hi Sebastian,
You certainly did a good job sitting. Granny tells me If I sat on a mushroom It would be squashed mushroom. huhummm!!! am I that big. I say it is padding to make sitting comfortable. I sure loved the picture of you sitting on that big turtle. Was it comfy?
I might apply for a job of sitting as well.

    1. Hi Wilbur and Kay,

I think you would make a very good sitter - bears by nature are very good at that sort of thing. The turtle was - um - hard. Not hard to balance but hard as opposed to soft. If you get a job as a sitter, let me know. We trade professional secrets!

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  4. Bonjour M. Sebastian,
Je suis en France et puis.. I've run out of French. I thought I'd give it a try 'cos the staff and his brother have brought me here to play with very vroomy cars.
You'll need to tell how you became an Official Sitter, cos all the ones above are you being unofficial. I think it's great but you shouldn't hold back how to become official. Is there an exam? More importantly is there a swearing-in ceremony with a party? I think I could become an official sitter too, and I'd like to know how much you can charge for it. Maybe a hunny sandwich, or a packet of biscuits/cookies for each official sit?
Watch out for those tortoises, they have been known to put on a burst of speed. I heard one even beat a hare in a race.
    Hugs,
    Monsieur Jock
P.S. If I'm going to be a sitter in France, I'll have to learn to shrug. Mon Dieu

    1. Bonjour M. Jock,

That's all I got buddy and that's because I copied you. Your accent is very good though. Make sure you stick your head out the window. I understand that's what you do to feel the wind in your fur - at least that's what Topher says.

I'm not sure of the details of what makes an official sitter yet but I'm looking into it. It should be a good gig if you can get it though. Something we do all the time and then to get a title and some respect for it - that's what I'm talking about.

I think a party is a good idea and we could set up a schedule so that when one is on the job the other is practicing. And perhaps you can teach me how to shrug. I only know how to slouch.

Have fun in France ol' boy!

      hugs,
      Sebastian
