I offer the current weather conditions in this part of North Carolina. We are in the midst of a winter storm. Br-r-r-r. It’s cold. How’s that for official? Looking out from our windows, it doesn’t have the dramatic appearance of a huge snowfall. Instead we are getting sleet and freezing rain. It may peter out or it could be that ice will accumulate which could take us down a different path entirely. This is a photo I took this afternoon before the storm arrived. Tomorrow it may look different.
What does one do when the governor urges people to stay off the roads while the power is still on? We decided to make (and eat!) chocolate pastries.
Thanks to my daughter’s recommendation a few weeks ago, we had a treat this wintry evening.
And while our electricity is still on (& we hope it stays that way!), I decided to continue keeping my hands busy with beads and wire.
I’m also including this photo of an artistic stacking of orange slices because I’m fairly certain the friend who did it will fall over in a fit of laughter because I posted it here. And everyone can use a good laugh now and then.
If there are any good storm photos to be had tomorrow, I will check back in. As of now, here’s what we’re seeing. It looks quiet but we can hear the sleet hitting the frozen surfaces. As I said earlier, br-r-r-r.
Until later,
Hi,
ReplyDeleteOh boy, we are iced in too. The lane is just solid black ice, as is the one main road in our subdivision. Our local nursery came and put ice melt down and they were so nice to do our driveway too. But it looks like the sleet may have caused it to "slide" down hill. I haven't seen a single car, but of course we don't see much except for trees, sky and wildlife.
Be safe, stay warm and you and Sebastian have a very creative day.
Hugs
Hi Joyce,
DeleteI hope you and Prudence and all the bears stay warm too - and safe! We fared pretty well here. No major ice build up on the trees - mostly sleet which is much better in the scheme of things!
hugs,
~ginger
Stay warm.....explain the bear at the top, please....
ReplyDeleteMama Bear
I sat the bear on the table to watch and see how the snow, sleet & ice accumulated if it did. I'll post an 'after' photo so you can see.
DeleteHow about the recipe for the pastry.
ReplyDeleteMama Bear
I'm not sure you would call this a recipe but it's very easy. Puff pastry and dark chocolate chips. Here's a link to my pin for it.

Super easy and delicious!
That ice looks freezing. I won't tell you what our temperature is in Australia, it will make you jealous. Cooking is a good idea. I would come for coffee if I had a chocolate pastry.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm and hug Sebastian.
Hugs Kay
That's okay Kay! I know you are enjoying some warm weather! So is my son and his wife in Florida! You would be heartily welcomed with a cup of coffee and plate of pastries if you turned up at our door. Sebastian would talk your ears off but eventually he would run out of steam and you could share your tales of Australia!
Deletehugs,
~ginger & Sebastian
We're glad to see the outside bear had a snack to tide him through too!
