Pie - not the 3.14159265 kind.

Do you know what this is?

If you bake pies, you are probably familiar with it. It’s called a Piebird.

This is also a Piebird.

We heard it was going to open and we waited. And we waited some more. Then it finally opened.

We wanted to give it a try – well, because we like pies of all sorts.

We love eating outside when spring and summer are here but it was one of those days when the heat wave was here and we wanted to enjoy our meal in the comfort of good ol’ air conditioning.

First – the salad. I thought the bird salt and pepper shakers were sweet.

Then – the first pie, a savory one. The goodness runneth over.

Word of the day: yummy - highly attractive or pleasing; especially: delicious, delectable

Then it was coffee with dessert. Choosing which slice of pie - difficult.
(Hey, look!  That guy in the background is a lefty like me!)

We each decided the Chocolate Cream Pie looked too good to pass up.

We heard there was a sweet pie sampler. That’s going to be our choice for next time. I want to try the Blueberry, Chocolate Chip Pecan, Peach, Lemon and whatever else they have. Hey, I’m open to trying new things – especially when pie is involved. What’s your favorite kind of pie?

  2. That chocolate pie looks delicious! My favourite kind of pie is a french tartelette au citron meringué. It's a sort of lemon pie with a big crucnhy meringue on top.

  3. Hmm, I don't really do pies, especially savoury ones, however option number 2 of your first 2 pics would be preferable, less washing up ;o) I think I may have to join you on the sampler though, I obviously don't know what I've been missing, just as long as there's no cream on them...

  4. Hi Ginger,

    Sebastian didn't go with you?

The little bird salt & pepper shakers are very "tweet". (o:

My goodness, you're left handed - so am I.

Hugs, have a happy day. Big hugs to Sebastian.

  5. My mouth is watering, really. I need to go to a restaurant now and eat pie. My favorite is key lime, perfect combination of tart and sweet.

  6. Oh meat & potato pie and apple pie, both get my vote!

I'm left handed too! (I think there are more of us about than they realise!)

  8. @ Kays Kids - Yep it was great! And the chocolate pie was too. Not too sweet - just right.

@ Lirael - That's a new one for me but it sounds delicious. I like the idea of a crunchy meringue.

@ Katy - Different strokes and all that. I'm sure you could introduce us to something delicious from your end of the world.

@ The Bear's Blog - Hi fellow lefty. Sebastian was too busy raiding the cupboards to come with us!

@ Cheryl - I think you would enjoy it! Come on over anytime!

@ Joanne - I think they had a key lime there too. I'll have to add it to the list.

@ Lynda - Very good. Those are very good choices. Obviously there are a lot of pies to get through. It should be done properly of course - with friends! Yea for lefties! After all, we're the minority, aren't we?

@ Elanor - Well, of course. These little adventures are all in the name of research! But I fear we'll run short of time - too much pie - too little time. We're starting a list. Now for page 2 . . .

  9. Such a cool post Ginger - I feel sooo much better after a bit of wit! Gorgeous eatery too ; lucky you :0) My only lament: here in the UK you'd be hard pressed to find one of these old-time baking "gadgets" ... so sad!

    Hugs, and pie-faced grins,
    Ruth xx :0)
