It’s Not What It Looks Like

I wanted to share something with you that I found amazing, but first I have to give you a little bit of background. If you have read this blog for any length of time, you may remember this post where I admitted to being married to a State Fair Fanatic. We go every year – at least once. In the past here on bearbits, I have shared photos of the rides, the food, the lights, the animals and other typical State Fair things.

And being the sort of person/blogger that really, really doesn’t want to bore you silly by posting photos of the same ol’ thing every – single – year I am going to attempt, yes I said, attempt to amaze you.

I took this photo of these handmade Native American moccasins which were part of a vignette. It’s not what it looks like.

Here’s a photo of the entire grouping.

And another one from the top. As you can see from the
ribbons, it won best of show.

Now this is where I hope to amaze you – in the way that I was amazed. It could be that I’m easily entertained as you well know. Nevertheless, does this photo have any clues about what makes this scene so incredible?

Or this one? Do you see what other things are displayed next to it and nearby?

Yes, now you see it don’t you? It is a cake! A remarkable work of edible art. The beads on the moccasins were candy sprinkles. I’m guessing fondant was used for the rawhide part of the drum.

Is that creative or what?!

  1. amazing the creativity of some people, it's a cake! really awesome!

  2. That is amazing. Those tiny sprinkles put in one by one, to make such a beautiful pattern. Very cleaver indeed.

  3. I'm blown away by the talent some people have. It's hard to believe that this is a cake. The bead work is really something and the whole thing is amazing. WOW!!

  4. WOW!! That is truly amazing work! A CAKE?! WOW! I HAVE to show Claire (our cookie-baker elf) these photos--she's going to love it.

  5. That is just amazing, imagine the amount of time to do the 'beading'

  6. All I can say is "Holy Crap" I started to realize when you said to look at the other things. Some people are just so incredibly talented. Thanks for showing this.

We appreciate your comments so much and love reading them! Thank you for visiting bearbits!
