Three Apothecaries

At last the photos from my witch hat project which ended up being three apothecaries. Similar in some ways and different in others. I hope you enjoy these photos of them and the close-ups that follow.

This is Keelie’s Concoctions Apothecary.

This is Perle’s Potions Apothecary

Meet Keelie, Luna & Perle!

These creepy candles were fun to make.  My favorite is the green one in the square shaped bottle.

ta_7

Each apothecary had a bunch of calla lilies – painted differently . . .

ta_8

and each also had a eerie bouquet in a bottle vase.  I think I had the most fun with the eyeball bouquet!

ta_9

A glimpse of the potions on the shelf and Eye of Newt and Dragon’s Fire – in a bottle!

ta_10     ta_11

A different calla lily bouquet.

ta_12

The reference books.

ta_13

A view of a Keelie’s apothecary shelves.

ta_14

The pumpkin next to a raven and Mr. Bones.

ta_15

Each one also had a moon encircled by a star vine and dangling bottles of who knows what?

ta_16

And lastly, views of other areas of the apothecaries.

  3. Ginger it could only be you to come up with such a magical idea. Not only the idea, but the little bottles of potions and spells. The lilies made me laugh. Plus of course your 3 bears are wonderful.
    Wonderful.

    1. Hi Kay,

Aren't you sweet?! I incorporated things from my 'inventory' of 'stuff' and ideas I've learned about through blogs. People are so helpful and ingenious, don't you think? Thank you so much!

Thank you! They are full of details which making can drive a person crazy but that's what makes them challenging and exciting to make. I do like the hats too! Thank you again!

    1. Hi Heather,

I think I'll put you on the payroll! What can I say but thank you for your enthusiasm for this piece and all my work. I do love Keelie as well. She's got a very nice expression. Who would ever believe she could mix a potion like Dragon's Fire?!

      Thank you! Thank you!

    3. Hi Heather,

I do appreciate it. What can I say? Thank you! I wanted to make something for Halloween and this idea came to me. Then I thought why not make three. I offered them to those on my email list first since that is one of the benefits of being on it - first dibs. Then there were none. They didn't quite make it to my website or the next show either.

  8. Oh my goodness! I've been watching the bits and pieces with great interest but never in a million years did I imagine such a wonderful conclusion! Those are fantastic and amazing and wonderful and delightful. If you ever need knit sweaters for your little bears, let me know. It would be terrific fun to contribute to something so special.

  10. So awesome Ginger!I love this! Did you sell these? I missed the beginnings of these posts by the looks of things. This is so up my alley. I have a whole line of apothecary room sprays that I make and sell based on the movie Practical Magic... you can see them on etsy! Anyway, I'm in love with all three!

    1. Hi Michele,

Thank you! I did sell them - their new homes are quite spread apart - west coast, east coast, south! Maybe I should have made four so I could have the North covered!

I'm so pleased you like them!

  11. A strange and wonderful creation, Ginger. I don't know how you do it. The patience you must have to work on all that detail has me gob-smacked - I stand in awe! I do love your three apothecary bears - they are very sweet, and not scary at all.

    1. Hi Kayzy,

I sometimes wonder myself when I am finished and looking back on stuff I have made. I'm glad you think they are sweet because I wanted them to be a little charming, not frightening. :)

Thank you very much for your kind words.

  12. What can I say, these are fantastic. You not only have the imagination, you have the patience and skill to make the imagined real. Jock got really excited when he saw these and wanted to come and play, but I said we couldn't so now he's sulking. :-)

    1. Hi Alan,

Thank you so much. I do think it takes patience but I'm not sure where it comes from. I was never very patient before!

Too bad that Jock is sulking. Maybe I can find a potion in one of the apothecaries that will turn that frown upside down. :D

  14. I was away when you posted this, must have been how I missed it. I was visiting with Katy yesterday and she asked me if I had seen this post. She told me how fantastic these hats were. I am so glad she did, because this is wonderful. I can not believe all the detail you have added to these pieces, they are outstanding.

How wonderful that you were able to visit with Katy! I know she's on a grand whirlwind of an adventure. What a bonus to be able to see you as part of that!

Thank you for checking out this post and the apothecaries. It was a really fun one and I am sort of missing the challenge even though I have other irons in the fire so to speak.

      Thank you!
