I have replaced my small book making activities with the construction of a wood floor. There is a method to my madness, I think.
Each part of this project has a place in my design but right now it seems like I have a lot of parts here and there and it looks really random.
Even so, losing oneself in the depths of a project is sometimes the best reward of all.
For what may seem tedious or boring to some can be quite calming and satisfying to someone else. I enjoyed adding these little wood pieces – section by section to create this floor. I am excited to see how it will look in its designated place.
Step by step – sometimes plodding, sometimes quickly but not often, it is coming together.
I can conceive of hurrying it along some because I am anxious to see how it will turn out compared to my concept, but then the fun would be over too soon.
A library perhaps?

Hi Miss Ginger,
ReplyDeleteMom was reading your post sighing, she loves making the floors so she knows the feeling of accomplishment. Me too, 'cause I always help - I hand her the boards.

Hi Miss Prudence,
DeleteI am glad to know I am in good company. She probably has some good advice for a newbie floor layer! Please tell Daisy Mae that I am sure she is having a great time. How could she not? I still love the photos!

ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda!
DeleteI love doing this type of construction Ginger having built several doll houses in days gone by- great fun! Makes me want to attempt building a 'bear house' for all my mini bears. Best to you, Ani
ReplyDeleteI love doing construction work Ginger, so fun! Your flooring is gorgeous! I've made quite a few doll's houses in days gone by, my favorite being a log cabin I made for my Mom that has a tiny stone fireplace and chimney made from aquarium gravel. Can't wait to see the finished project. Best, Ani
ReplyDeleteHi Ani,
DeleteThanks so much for your comments! The log cabin sounds like a great project and it must have been fun to do. I think it would be a blast to make a bear house. I'm sure I wouldn't ever get anything else done though! :D

We think there's definitely madness in your method, but the floor looks good :oD
