There is nothing quite like jumping in with both feet. That’s exactly what I have done. I contemplated this project for a few days and then decided nothing ventured, nothing gained. And I am quite aware that it could go either way – it might turn out okay or it might not - or somewhere in between.
Looking at the photo below it appears to have a similar look to my last project, The Book Fairy, but the similarity ends here with these mini books. I do love me some books.
Since this one is a real departure from anything I have attempted before (as I said – it can go either way), thus
I am hip deep in experimental (for me) techniques and various materials.
In fact, I stared up at the ceiling both last night before I went to sleep and this morning when I woke up wondering if I this particular undertaking is a bit misguided.
I suppose time will tell. It certainly makes me a bit nervous this uncharted territory.
I have completed one portion so far which started this way.
These books are somewhat larger than the ones pictured above. They are what I would consider to be palm-sized.
I made three. I learned on the first one and managed to improve the process by the third one.
I don’t know yet if I will use three or just two. It’s a very flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of operation.
Dear Miss Ginger, is some one or some thing going to be flying? You seem to be doing a lot of flying by the seat of your pants.

Hi Wilbur,
DeleteIt does seem that way doesn't it dear Wilbur. I am doing a lot of this seat of the pants thing. I must like doing it or else why would I? Sometimes I think I need my head examined. It's much easier to sit on the porch and watch the flowers grow!

The miniature books you've made are adorable! I love flying by the seat of my pants - don't do it often enough! Best wishes on the final outcome :o) Hugs, Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Janice,
DeleteThanks so much! I thought I saw you among the tree tops occasionally. :D Thanks for the good wishes because I'm feeling I will definitely need them!

Very intriguing!! Good luck on your experimenting! And keep flying. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you K. Joy! I hope to keep aloft!

Hi Mari,
DeleteI'm a tad nervous - but thank you! I will be careful and hopefully have something to share.
Thanks!

Your miniature books are wonderful. I did bookmaking at school and it was hard enough to do a full-sized one, so it must be very fiddly to do them so small! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda,
DeleteI am cheating a bit - not going the whole making signatures route and then binding etc. That in itself would take ages as you say - hard enough! So I am working it out the best and most efficient way for my plan and hope it turns out okay.
Thanks for reading!

Sounds like fun! I have yet to see one of your "flying seat" things not turn out really cool! Have fun!

Hi Cheryl,
DeleteYou have so much faith in these things! I wish I did. Seems like this one has me questioning at every fork in the road. We shall see - failure or success - one or the other! Thank you so much!

Your creativity never ceases to make me marvel, Ginger - you're so clever!

I love your miniature books. But you have me quite curios as to what you are going to do with them. Is there anything you can't do?
