Easter Shenanigans

Sebastian has been up to some Easter shenanigans. He ran into my studio breathless and exclaimed, “The Easter Bunny is missing!”

Now, I’m a good sport and all so I played along with him and said, “Oh no! What will happen if the Easter eggs don’t get delivered on Easter?! What should we do?”

Sebastian suggested that perhaps the Easter Bunny had been kidnapped. Maybe there were some imposters out there just pretending to be the Easter Bunny. We should go and look for him. What about this guy?

es_1

“No, Sebastian. He’s not pretending to be the Easter Bunny and he didn’t kidnap him either. He’s a carrot. Why I heard him myself when he said he was “out standing in his field.”

Maybe it was one of these guys. They look awfully suspicious to me. Look at those shifty mustaches. “Will the real Easter Bunny please stand up?”

es_2

Nope. No Easter Bunny there. Truthfully, not one of them looks like him. There is a little resemblance in the ears but I think you better keep looking.

“Sebastian you’ve found him! He’s the REAL Easter Bunny. Only the real Easter Bunny would wear a smart vest like that.”

es_3

Yes, most definitely. That’s the Easter Bunny and I’m sure he’s ready to put his paws up and enjoy a lovely Easter afternoon. Great job Sebastian.

es_4

And who were those other mustachioed characters?! Oh it was just you guys!

Happy Times – at least I think they were. By Sebastian

Hi ho everyone. Looks like I’m in charge here today. It’s about time. Speaking of time, let’s not waste any of it. I don’t know exactly how much I have before someone decides I’m not in charge any more.

You haven’t heard this story before. It’s brand new and I know because I’m in it. It all started when I had a chance to reunion with some of my best buds. That’s right. BFF’s. Comrades. Amigos. Pals.

Here we are when we first got back together. From left to right – There’s Stanley. He’s rather new. He’s the only one I know who can pull off a bow tie with such finesse. Then there’s Piper in the middle. Piper’s been around a bit. She’s mustering up the courage to ask for a hair bow. I told her to borrow Stanley’s bow tie and put it in her hair, but she looked at me as if I’d lost my mind. There I am on the end if you couldn’t tell.

So what do three happening bears do when they are let loose in a happening town? We decided to start our adventure with a trip to Luella’s Bar-B-Que. The sign on the door told me good things awaited us inside. I wasn’t wrong about that.

htalittwbs_2

Bar-B-Que places aren’t supposed to be fancy. They are supposed to be ‘down home’ kind of eating spots. Everyone started laughing when I announced I was going to eat ‘down home’ with my homeys. What?! Do you think that is funny too?

htalittwbs_3

Anyway, after we ate ‘til we nearly popped, we had a meetin’ between the three of us. What should we do next? By unanimous vote, or was that anonymous vote? Anyway we all voted the same way. We decided we should eat some more.

htalittwbs_4

Next stop: The Chocolate Lounge. We got three big chocolates with the letter P on them. I was fairly certain that the P was for Piper or Pals but someone said, “Don’t be daft Sebastian. The P is for Peru where the chocolate comes from.” I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. What does Peru have to do with the three of us?

htalittwbs_5

Then as time went on copious amounts of coffee, mochas, chocolate ice cream and stuff like that was consumed. I won’t say by whom. Let’s just say that none of us has a clear memory of what happened that night. I vaguely remember people laughing and saying things like “they must have a chocolate hangover”.  All I know is I was hanging off the edge of the saucer and Stanley’s leg was hanging off the edge of the table and Piper’s feet were hanging off the edge too. Is that why they call it a ‘hangover’?

htalittwbs_6

The reason I am telling you this story – is, um, is because um – this is about the most fun I have ever had with these two friends and if you have a chance to do the same, well, you very well should. You can never have too much fun. I mean, as well as I can remember anyway.

This & That & the Other

ttato_1

On this, the first day of Spring, I am excited to have some photos to share of the little pink pig I have only just completed.

ttato_2

While working on this little guy, I learned that Google Reader is going away. With that in mind I am giving Feedly a try so I won’t miss out on updates from my favorite bloggers. If you depend on Google Reader for updates to this blog, you might want to switch to another service or sign up to receive updates via email on the right there. → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → → →→ → → → → → → → →

ttato_3

The first day of Spring doesn’t always bring Spring-like temperatures, so if you find yourself staying inside and are looking for a bit of lighthearted fun, check out this comical teddy bear story over at The Peripatetic Bear blog.

ttato_6

If all goes well with the current teddy I have in progress, my plan is to give myself a reward of a few minutes with a book I have recently acquired call Quiet. So far (I’m only on page 10) it has been a very interesting and enlightening read.

ttato_5

Finally, I have chosen a date for my next exclusive Internet show. If you are signed up on my mailing list, you will soon be receiving the details of when and where. If you aren’t signed up but would like to, you can do so by clicking here. (Please note:  The Piece Parade mailing list is only for website and Internet show updates  - not blog updates.)

And that, my dear friends, is the end. Thank you and good night.

Monday Morning Cheer

I am not sure if I am ready to let go of the weekend just yet. And I am fairly certain I am not quite ready to embrace Monday morning. With that in mind, I am sharing a few random photos from the last couple of days that I hope will brighten my Monday morning and maybe yours too.

mmc_1

A view of the North Carolina mountains.

What’s not to love about a sweet little cake shop?

That one on the left? Sweet Potato Spice Cake.  Scrumptious.

mmc_4

We didn’t stay here.  We just walked around and oohed and aahed and said things like “maybe for our anniversary” and “maybe in the Spring” and “look at that view”  “that is an amazing view”  and “wow, what a view”.

mmc_5

Words to contemplate around a massive fireplace.

mmc_6

Sebastian meeting a new prickly friend that was being pet-sitted or it that pet-sat?

mmc_7

Finally, a happy little mountain bluebird to wish you a Happy Monday!

Midweek Adventure with Sebastian

All Sebastian needed was a taste of adventure and he was all set to have another one. This one was less sedate than seeing yarn bombing!

We didn’t have to go far at all since this extraordinarily fun escapade took place downtown. Just a hop, skip and a short car ride from home. Taking a Segway tour of Raleigh was something my husband and I had wanted to try and now we think we might be hooked!

Here’s Sebastian before the tour. Did he really think he was going to ride there???!!!

He and I were going to have a have a little talk but first we needed some instructions on how to ride, stop, steer and generally not fall off. It was super easy.

This is me taking a trial run inside the shop before they took us for a ride on the street with curbs, turns, hills and other vehicles – like cars.

Like I said, Sebastian and I had to have a little chat. I had to tell him that I was a newbie Segway driver and it would be much safer for him if he was tucked away someplace a little less precarious than the top of my helmet or the top of the Segway. I promised him the thrill would be nearly the same.

We saw loads of historic homes and learned some nuggets about the history of our city that we hadn’t heard before.

Thankfully, our group managed not to run into each other, crossed all the streets safely and took a break now and then to see the sites.

Here’s Sebastian at the Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

Here’s the three of us in front of the Governor’s Mansion on our Segways.

Sebastian asked me if they made them in his size. I had to tell him not yet, but wouldn’t that be cool? A little itty bitty teddy bear Segway.

If you are ever in the area or thinking of trying this sometime, give it a go. You won’t be disappointed. I would do it again in heartbeat!

Thanks for the great time Jeff, Cornie and the whole team down at Triangle Glides!
