On the Road to California – Day 3

Day 3 began in Arkansas and ended in Texas. Sebastian, your sign?

Here are a few photos taken on the road in between.

Again the weather was gray and cold. This was taken in Fort Smith, Arkansas. What I learned about Arkansas in the little time we were there: It has some very friendly people. There was one gentleman who waited on us as we headed out of town who claimed to be the orneriest and meanest fellow in the county. As hard as he tried to convince me of it, I just didn’t believe it. It was a good laugh to start our travels.

Fort Smith is the home of the only former brothel listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I’m a tad curious about that one. What makes a brothel historic?! Fort Smith might be on my list of places to go back to one day – when I can see what makes this western town famous.

Shortly after getting on the road we passed into Oklahoma.

There was still some snow on the ground in places. I took this photo which seemed pretty typical of the landscape.

The day before I had heard there was a winter storm a couple of states away that was on our route so we turned south towards Dallas, Texas hoping to avoid it.

Sebastian asked me to include this photo of him I took when we stopped for a bite.

He wanted to see if you could guess what he is sitting on but I said it was pretty obvious if one took the time to really look closely.

That’s all for Day 3 from me & Sebastian.
