Rusty Shoes

I was in the middle of sewing up a small bear when I heard something that sounded amazingly like thunder; as in thunderstorm. It has been quite a while since our tiny little plot of land has seen any rain. I took off my glasses and clambered down the stairs to see if it was in fact, raining.

Then we saw drops of liquid looking a lot like rain landing on the pavement, the driveway, the sidewalk and the steps. Could it really be rain, real rain? (That is, as opposed to fake rain . . .)

I would have happily danced in it but my rain dancing shoes are just a bit rusty. I bet you’re wondering how they got rusty without any rain falling from the sky.

It’s the humidity – really, we’ve had that much of it and well, what can I say – my dancin’ shoes took a bad turn. Still, I love this quote: “Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.”

  1. Let me know if you need anymore of the precipitation and I'll send you some of ours...we've got enough now and would gladly accept some of your sunshine in exchange, sounds like a good idea to me.. :o)

  2. Dance in the rain with our a care in the world. Life is too precious not to enjoy every minute.

  3. oh I know what its like to go without rain! we've just reached 60% capacity in Vic for our water storage (the whole of victoria) rain is always needed

  4. oooooo well done on getting some real rain .. the kind that gets you wet ..lol love mouse xxxx

  5. I know. Its been over a week here since we had any liquid sunshine.

  6. Lovely photos, but guite frankly if I could I'd divert about half of the rain we get and you'd be tired of it in no time at all.

  7. OK Missy being from Washington state I need to let you know... dancing in the rain... do it barefoot... how else are you going to develop webs between those toes!

  8. Awww, Ginger, if you'd said, I'd have happily sent you some, after all, it's summer here, it's raining all the time lol (actually barring the last 3 days)

  9. @ Lizzie - How thoughtful of you. It would seem that each of us could share our excesses and spread the goodness around!

@ Kays Kids - Sounds like a good plan! And catching snowflakes on your tongue!

@ Whinging Ninja - Sisters under the cloudless skies? I hope things improve in your neck of the world.

@ Mouse - If only I had had something to do with it! :)

@ Love Bears All Things - Funny how that happens. Others parts of our town have seen rain but not this little bit we live in - at least not much. Good luck! Hope you get some soon!

@ maddyrose - I'm sure you are right. Days and days of rain on end would definitely get me down. Perhaps all of us would benefit from just a little bit of moderation. I hope your deluge lightens some.

@ Sharon - Oh, thank you for the advice. I knew you would know how to do it right! And the side benefit is that I might become a better swimmer too!

@ Katy - I'll contact you next time and you can work out how to send some our way. After that we'll work on the excessive heat, too litte snow, too much snow, too cold. You know, the whole gamut!

We appreciate your comments so much and love reading them! Thank you for visiting bearbits!
